Pom Poms
(Make 3 in each accent color, for a total of 9)
Optional: Use a 1-inch pom pom maker to make your pom poms instead of following these pom pom instructions.
Slide a 12 to 18-inch length of yarn between 2 fingers (this is the tie). Wrap yarn around those two fingers about 120 times. Pull up the ends of the tie and knot it tightly around the wraps. Slide off your fingers.
Tie another knot tightly around the pom pom. Weave each end of the tie through the center of the pom pom several times, making sure that both ends come back out at the same spot. Hold the ends separately from the rest of the pom pom and do not cut them. Trim the pom pom to a full, round shape.
Finishing:
Use remaining pom pom ends to attach pom poms to basket in desired locations. Weave the ends back into each pom pom and trim to blend in.
Weave in all remaining ends on basket.
Pom Poms can be tricky to make if you don't get the technique down! This storage basket is so cute I can’t get over it. Plus, the yarn colors remind me of an ice cream sundae. I love the way it pops in any room and I think you will too.
If your kiddo isn’t a big fan of pastels, or if you’re looking for a different color scheme, this colorspun yarn is available in an array of colors so you can make your basket as unique as your home.
